Amal and George Clooney’s twins aren’t even two months old yet, but they are already at the centre of a media frenzy and legal storm.
The couple announced the arrival of their babies, Ella and Alexander, just last month after Amal gave birth in London. While the couple were pleased to share their happy news with their fans and the public, following their statement they retreated to private life to bond as a family.
However, a couple of weeks ago, the proud parents flew with their children to Europe for their first ever family holiday.
Whilst staying at their home in Lake Como, Italy, the couple have been relentlessly pursued by paparazzi. The invasive photographers have gone to extreme lengths to penetrate the area around the couple’s private land, in order to get a snap of their two children.
After photographers climbed trees and fences around the famous pair’s property, they managed to obtain a snap of the infants.
The photos were sold to French publication Voici, who published the photos. The front page spread showed George and Amal walking in the grounds of their private residence, each holding one of their twins carefully in their arms.
Following the publication of the photos, a livid George Clooney released a furious statement vowing to prosecute all those involved in the breach of their privacy.
“Over the last week photographers from Voici magazine scaled our fence, climbed our tree and illegally took pictures of our infants inside our home. Make no mistake, the photographers, the agency and the magazine will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. The safety of our children demands it.”
In response to Clooney’s strongly worded statement, the magazine said:
“People love George Clooney and have been following his life story for years now.”
“The birth of their twins, Ella and Alexander, has also been commented a lot, by themselves and their families.”
“Those pictures do not put in danger Mr Clooney, his wife or their kids.”
