The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s recent Royal tour of Canada cemented their status as the royal couple of the moment. And while Kate and Wills seemed to bask in the limelight attached to their trip, it seems that other members of the royal family may have felt left out in the cold.

The ‘tension’ between “blood princesses” Beatrice and Eugenie and Kate has been well documented. While Kate has become a media darling, Prince William’s cousins have had occasional jibes directed towards their working lives and dress sense.

The gap between Kate and the princesses seems to be even wider for another reason. Unlike Kate, the York girls have no official duties attached to their title. But its seems that this difference isn’t the main bone of contention between the Duchess and Beatrice and Eugenie.

The princesses are said to still be close to Isabella Calthorpe Branson – pictured far left – Richard Branson’s daughter-in-law. Isabella and Prince William were linked during the brief breakups between Kate and William. Isabella is also the half-sister of Cressida Bonas – Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriend.

According to a previous report in Vanity Fair, Kate got wind of the fact that William had been visiting Isabella. Taking swift action after the pair reunited in the Christmas of 2007 ‘Kate insisted that William was not to contact her again’.

And this moment was far from being the end of the chapter. Its said that Isabella – pictured far right – still remains the the one woman Kate has ever felt threatened by.

Kate Middleton and the princesses: an ongoing story

It’s a picture that at first glance seems innocent. However, this photo is said to have caused the Queen concern about growing tensions between her granddaughters and the Duchess of Cambridge.

Kate Middleton and Beatrice and Eugenie

Beatrice and Eugenie were seen to be frosty and a little cool with Kate at the Queen’s garden party at Buckingham Palace in May. The tension in this photo between the three royal family members has called into question their relationship.

A guest at the Garden Party noted the frosty atmosphere between Kate and the Princesses, and revealed to the Daily Mail that Beatrice and Eugenie were left very much, “in the shadow of the Cambridges” at the prestigious event.

It is rumoured that the relationship between Kate Middleton and Beatrice and Eugenie didn’t get off to a good start. In fact, it was said to be tense before Kate became a Duchess. The tension between the royal family members has only become worse it seems, as Beatrice and Eugenie feel that they always come second to Kate. An insider revealed to the Daily Mail:

“It particularly hurt when Kate did solo engagements with the Queen during the Diamond Jubilee. They felt snubbed.”

Pippa snubbed

Jealously and ranking in the royal family aside, snubs towards Kate’s sister Pippa and Beatrice and Eugenie’s mother Sarah Ferguson have not helped to build bridges. The Princesses have apparently snubbed Kate’s sister Pippa publicly in the past, which Kate didn’t appreciate. Then Kate and William didn’t invite the Princesses’s mother Fergie to their wedding in 2011. And with the girls still fiercely loyal to their mother, they were reportedly annoyed and hurt by the snub.

It remains to be seen whether the Duchess of Cambridge and the Princesses will patch up their friendship. If the Queen has anything to do with it, we’re sure the royal family will come together before too long!
