Could the former EastEnders star be returning to Albert Square?
Danniella Westbrook has recently hinted that she might return to BBC’s hit soap EastEnders.
During an interview with the Loose Women panel yesterday, Daniella said there was “a lot of chance” that she could return to Walford as her old character Sam Mitchell.
She added: “I love EastEnders. I’ll probably be back there later this year.” This was Danniella’s first interview since leaving rehab in January, and the actress was keen to express how much better she’s feeling.
“I’m fantastic,” she said. “I was so poorly the last time I was here. I was in such a bad place and trying to get better. I think for me with mental health it’s because you can’t see it. People pick up what they know, their band aid, for me it’s drugs.”
Danniella was last seen in Albert Square last June for four episodes when she returned for Peggy’s funeral. Daniella joined EastEnders aged just 16 back in July 1990.
However, sadly for Daniella, it doesn’t look as though she will be back in Albert Square anytime soon. The star has since retracted her comments in a bizarre u-turn statement and EastEnders have confirmed she will not be returning.
An EastEnders rep said: “There are no current plans for Danniella to return.”
Daniella took to Instagram to clarify the rumours. She now claims she doesn’t actually want to return to the soap and that she was simply being polite.
