Who do you get on with on Loose Women?
Denise Welch and I get on like a house on fire. I have a real bond with her, we have a lot in common. We’re both dating younger men although she has given up drinking which is one less thing we’ll be doing together!
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Use a body lotion. I remember I was working with someone when I was in my early 20s and she was 30, and she told me to moisturise my body every day. I took her tip and now people always comment on how soft my skin is.
Did you enjoy making your acting debut at Christmas?
Acting in Panto took me out of my comfort zone. It’s been really stressful performing as the Genie in Aladdin this year but it’s a positive kind of stress and I think you need to stretch yourself sometimes. The rest of the cast were brilliant to work with and I couldn’t wait to get on the stage, even though I was terrified at the same time!
What do you enjoy watching on TV?
I’m a big fan of chat shows. I love watching Jonathan Ross – he’s so funny – and I love the way all the guests get to chat together on Graham Norton’s show. Once, I would have considered doing a chat show, but it’s very different now. You have to a comedian or all-round entertainer, it’s not just about the guests anymore.
You’re known as a bit of a party animal. What’s been your best party ever?
My fiftieth birthday party in Bangkok. It was on the banks of the Chao Phraya river on a perfect night and there were 45 people in the most beautiful house, where the king used to live. It’s a hotel now, so I hired the whole place and there was disco-dancing and karaoke afterwards. I sang Holiday by Madonna. That’s my signature karaoke tune. Everybody got really drunk and it was fantastic.
