amy winehouseThe late Amy Winehouse may be gone, but she’s far from forgotten, especially in her home town of Camden.

The London borough’s local council have given the green light to erect a bronze statue of the singer outside the Roundhouse music venue in Chalk Farm, just yards from the home where Amy died in 2011.

While some fans and planners objected to the memorial, organised by Amy’s father Mitch, the tribute will go ahead soon – although the council have warned it’s not to be lit up at night.

Mitch had previously revealed his plans for the statue, saying, ‘What we’d like to have is Amy leaning over the balcony and looking, and perhaps pointing, towards Camden Town from Chalk Farm Road.’
